He also qualified for the 200m backstroke at the World Championships in Budapest and brought home a bronze for Team USA.
In 2022, Casas proved he had what it takes by clocking in at 50.40 in the 100m butterfly at the U.S. Nationals in Irvine, California. He secured a spot on Team USA in the 400m freestyle relay, two years after his Tokyo Olympics heartbreak. However, at the 2023 World Championships, Casas couldn’t qualify for more than one event.
