Rating Kobbie Mainoo's performance as England qualify for Euro quarter-final

tribuna.com 4 days ago

Kobbie Mainoo got his first big start for England in their Euro last 16 clash with Slovakia.

Although England failed to make an impact in normal time, Jude Bellingham's crazy bicycle kick handed them an equaliser in the dying minutes.

Shortly into extra time, Harry Kane added another goal and Slovakia simply never recovered from that.

Mainoo was among the few positives in England's performance; he made several forays into the final third trying to create something.

Slovakia dominated England throughout the game but Mainoo did his best to stay calm and keep things ticking.

He made two tackles and completed 100% of his dribbles in addition to winning four of his six attempted duels.

Mainoo, 18, is capable of more and could have made a difference had he stayed on.

Loud applause was heard when Mainoo was substituted in the 83rd minute, capping off a successful start.
