£35m Chelsea player’s dad admits he wants him to leave Chelsea because of the new owners

One Chelsea player’s father has now admitted that he believes that his son would be best off elsewhere right now.

The club are well aware that they will need to sell a number of players this summer in order to be able to sign again.

It feels as if it will be the homegrown players whose futures are at risk in the upcoming transfer window. Trevoh Chalobah and Armando Broja are almost definitely going to be available for the right price.

One player many Chelsea fans will be hoping is not listed for sale is Conor Gallagher, with him featuring in near enough every game under Mauricio Pochettino this season.

Ian Maatsen is another who has looked prone to a sale, with him currently on loan at Borussia Dortmund.

Ian Maatsen’s father says he wants out of Chelsea

His father, Edward, has now claimed to Voetbal International that he and his son want his future to be away from Stamford Bridge anyway.

He said: “We are working on staying at the club (Dortmund). The clubs must resolve it among themselves. Ian is developing well here and things are not going well at Chelsea since the change of ownership.

“A lot in that club also revolves around money, which sometimes seems more important than the interests of the club. We have more options besides Chelsea and Dortmund, but Dortmund has proven to be a good restart.”

Borussia Dortmund interested in signing Maatsen

The Bundesliga side are interested in a permanent deal this summer, although the reported fee of £35m that Chelsea want could well put them off a deal.

He has the chance tonight to prove that he is too good to pass up on when he takes part in the Champions League semi-final first leg against PSG.

His first goal in the competition capped off a brilliant display in the last round against Atletico Madrid, with Chelsea perhaps being shown what they are missing if they let him leave this summer.
