A kidnap victim, Mrs. Amina Adamu, one of the  three housewives abducted four weeks ago along the Takum-Katsina-Ala road in the Takum Local Government Area of Taraba State, has managed to escape from her captors.

A family relation, Mallam Maiwada, who spoke with journalists on the phone from Takum, said Amina made her escape on Saturday night while the kidnappers were asleep.

However, he said  the other two housewives, along with the wife and daughter of General T.Y. Danjuma’s brother were still in captivity.

It was gathered that two of the family members who delivered ransom for the release of the housewives were also held  by the kidnappers.

General T.Y. Danjuma’s brother, Mr. Benjamin Danjuma, who was abducted alongside his wife and daughter on the same road a few weeks ago, was released after a ransom was paid, but his wife and daughter are still being held by the kidnappers.

Since 2017, residents of Takum have faced a constant threat from kidnappers who operate both day and night along the Takum-Katsina-Ala and Takum-Kashinbila road.

A resident of Takum, Bello Haruna, told Arewa PUNCH on the phone that travelling on the said road is highly risky due to the frequent kidnapping incidents, adding that several people, mainly traders, have been abducted, with many still in captivity.

When contacted, the Acting Public Relations Officer for the Taraba Police Command, DSP Kwache Gambo, said Police operatives were deployed to track down the kidnappers.
