For many, a honeymoon is a chance to finally relax after the stress of planning a wedding, but not so for one couple.

On TikTok, user @mybigheadlife posted a video showing the reality of traveling for a honeymoon immediately after a wedding, writing in a comment, "I've learned my lesson."

"This is your sign to NOT book your honeymoon the same night as your wedding," the creator wrote in the video's text overlay. "We're exhausted and cannot even be excited we got married."

The video, which was posted on June 16, has received 1 million views and more than 100,000 likes. Newsweek has contacted @mybigheadlife for comment via TikTok.

The video shows the creator and her new husband looking disillusioned with late-night travel. In the caption, she said she forgot to pack a swimsuit, her toothbrush and her entire facial routine.

The creator wrote in the comments that instead of an all-night wedding reception, the couple opted to end the party at 8:30 p.m. so they could make their flight to the Dominican Republic.

While many in the comments section questioned her reasoning, others said they could relate.

"I did worse," one user wrote. "I booked it for 6 a.m. the following morning. We got two hours of sleep."

"I did it this way. We literally took a red eye flight the night of our wedding," another commenter said, adding: "Got to Hawaii in the morning, and we tried to stay up and go to the pool. It was insane."

One user wrote, "I thought this is how they did it because of movie scenes where they drove off together," which the creator confirmed had informed her thinking.

Given the volume of media showing brides and grooms dolled up in a getaway car, the creator and her husband's assumptions make sense. But commenters were quick to offer other options to future married couples.

"We did it three months before and eloped while we were there—it made everything so smooth and like the wedding was a fancy after-party," a user wrote.

"We did a daycation and have been unpacking our wedding gifts in our home," another added. "We plan on going to Brazil in December!" The creator said this idea was "so much smarter."

A commenter described a three-step process: One, get married. Two, go to a hotel for the night. Three, leave for the honeymoon the day after.

Despite the sprint to the airport, the creator said her honeymoon had been "wonderful" so far. For what it's worth, she can now add viral video to her list of wedding keepsakes.
