Throughout the month of July, the city of Marshall is gearing up to celebrate its Parks and Recreation Department with a variety of exciting free community events and challenges.

City Celebrates National Park and Recreation Month
Marshall, known for its beautiful parks, is embracing National Park and Recreation Month, an initiative founded by the National Recreation and Park Association. The city, along with its dedicated Parks and Recreation staff members, are joining hands to celebrate this significant occasion.

Share Your Park Stories with #whereyoubelong
The Marshall PARD and the NRPA are encouraging the local community to share their personal stories and experiences about what parks mean to them, using the hashtag #whereyoubelong. This initiative aims to highlight the importance of parks and recreation facilities in the community and the invaluable benefits they bring to the people of Marshall.

City Council to Issue Proclamations
During the upcoming regular city council meeting, the Marshall City Council will be issuing two proclamations. The first proclamation will officially designate July as National Parks and Recreation Month within the City of Marshall. The second proclamation will honor July 19 as Park and Recreation Professionals Day, recognizing the hard work and dedication of city staff members.

Exciting Community Events Planned
Marina Garcia-Heredia, Director of Marshall PARD, announced a lineup of engaging community events for the month. These include a parks photo challenge, scavenger hunt, yoga in the park, princesses in the park, a glow golf tournament, dog days of summer, and Christmas in July. Garcia-Heredia emphasized the department's focus on creating a vibrant community through people, parks, and programs, with Park and Recreation Month promoting engagement and learning.
