There still is no answer to the burning question at Bayern Munich this summer: will Joshua Kimmich stay or leave?

Kimmich’s current deal is set to expire next summer and the player represents himself in contractual dealings. Reports have suggested the club is open to letting him go in the summer transfer window as part of new manager Vincent Kompany’s squad overhaul, in the wake of Bayern’s first season without silverware since 2011.

It had been reported that if Kimmich does wind up leaving, his preference would be to go to the Premier League in England and join one of Manchester City, Liverpool, or Arsenal FC.

Now, though, per information from RMC Sport journalist Fabrice Hawkins, Ligue 1 giant Paris Saint-Germain could also be back in the picture. As captured by @iMiaSanMia:

PSG have revived their interest in Joshua Kimmich and are trying to reach an agreement with the player. Bayern have opened the door for a potential sale.

PSG is rumored to be selling Uruguayan central midfielder Manuel Ugarte, which could leave a gap for Kimmich to occupy. A move back to central midfield might tempt Kimmich, who has been playing at right-back for both Germany and Bayern of late, but prefers to operate in the center of the pitch.

Back in the summer of 2021, both Kimmich and Leon Goretzka signed contract extensions with Bayern at a time when they looked destined to be two future club leaders in the heart of Bayern’s midfield. But the dynamic looks far different right now — and now both players could find their future elsewhere.
