The late journalist Job Nelson was laid to rest on Saturday, and family, friends, and members of the media fraternity were on hand to bid him a final farewell.

Nelson, who up to the time of his death was a sports journalist at the Jamaica Gleaner, was remembered with glowing tributes at the thanksgiving service to celebrate his life at Grace Missionary Church on West Avenue in St Andrew.

From his daughter Jodi-Ann, sharing that he was ever-present, his brother, Mark, recounting how deliberate their late mother was in naming him Job, to members of his graduating class from St Catherine High School taking everyone down memory lane and scholarship recipient, Natalia Perry, who fondly referred to him at "Uncle Job" recounting his generosity and how he impacted her life, the stories of his selflessness were many.

In fact, his alumni association has decided to rename a scholarship the Job Nelson Class of 87 scholarship.

Nelson, who died in a car crash off Spanish Town Road in St Andrew on May 21, at 53 years old, was also remembered for his dedication to journalism and his calm, quiet demeanour.

Throughout his career in journalism, he also worked at The Herald, the Jamaica Observer, and Loop News.

Nelson's remains were interred at Meadowrest Memorial Park.
