PITTSBURGH —

Pittsburgh's furry convention drew huge crowds to Downtown Saturday for the annual parade of the suited "sonas."

The Anthrocon Parade went down Penn Avenue from the David L. Lawrence Convention Center, starting at 2 p.m. The attendance at Anthrocon had grown so much this year that, for the first time, organizers were unable to take a group photo.

That excitement around the convention was reflected in the crowd Downtown, which included both adults and children. Aiyla Komorofski had dressed up in bunny ears and blue face paint and said the furries were a lot of fun. Arzoe White came to the parade with her father, wearing a tail to show she was a fan.

Rich Kuller and Maurice Segall were in Pittsburgh for the Pirates-Mets game at PNC Park. They said they "stumbled upon" the parade before the game and were enjoying the festivities.

"We've been having a great time meeting all of the participants of Anthrocon and getting a lot of selfies and a lot of pictures," said Rich Kuller.

"Pittsburgh is now our favorite city," Segall said, with Kuller chiming in to agree.

William Kofalt, who's from the Homewood neighborhood, had come to the parade dressed as a Dalmatian alongside his rescue dog, Daisy. He said "she loves all the attention" from the parade.

As far as walking in a fur suit with temperatures in the 80s, Kofalt said, "There is no really staying cool in the suit." He recommended folks stay hydrated.

Anthrocon will conclude with a closing ceremony on Sunday.
