Police lock down Scots street after ‘unexplained death’ of woman as forensics scour scene
POLICE have launched a probe into the "unexplained death" of a woman after she had taken unwell at a Scots property.
Emergency crews raced to the street in Lanark, South Lanarkshire, at around 7.30pm last night.
The alarm was raised after officers were called to a report of a woman taking unwell within a home in the Aitken Place area of the town.
The 43-year-old woman was rushed to Wishaw General Hospital by ambulance.
Sadly, she was pronounced dead a short time later.
Her death is being treated as "unexplained" but it is not thought to be suspicious.
A 27-year-old woman has been arrested in connection with an alleged drugs offence.
Forensics have been spotted sweeping the area this morning, with a number of officers at the site.
Enquiries are currently ongoing.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 7.30pm on Wednesday, 3 July, 2024 officers were called to a report of a 43-year-old woman taking unwell within a property in the Aitken Place area of Lanark.
"Emergency services attended, and she was taken by ambulance to Wishaw General Hospital. She was pronounced deceased a short time later.
"Her death is being treated as unexplained however is not thought to be suspicious.
"A 27-year-old woman has been arrested in connection with a drugs offence.
“Enquiries are ongoing."
