A man accused of repeatedly punching a woman on the head at East Kilbride Bus Station has been granted bail.

Mark Heaney, 42, is accused of threatening or abusive behaviour at the town centre station on June 29.

He allegedly shouted, swore and threatened a woman in the presence of a child.

It's also alleged that he assaulted the woman to her injury by pushing her, punching her repeatedly on the head and pulling her hair.

A further charge states that he acted aggressively in a police vehicle and threatened officers taking him to Coatbridge police station.

Heaney, of Kirktonholme Road, pleaded not guilty to all charges and a notional trial diet was fixed for July 26 to allow the defence to consider evidence.

Heaney was bailed by Sheriff Ross Macfarlane on the condition that he does not contact the victim.
