ASABA – Speaker of Delta State House of Assembly ( DTHA), Rt. Hon Guwor Emomotimi called on the Federal Government to adopt heathy means of taxation without overburdening Nigerians.

Speaking yesterday in Asaba while addressing pressmen, Hon. Guwor called on the Federal Government to make policies in the interest of the people.

He then described the first year in office of the Governor Sheriff Oborevwori is an testament of what is to come in the subsequent years.

He lauded Governor Oborevwori for consolidating on uncompleted projects from the previous administration whilst awarding new projects across the state.

He also dismissed notions that the Governor’s intent to develop the Warri/ Effurun axis of Delta State.

According to Guwor, ” Warri is the business hub of Delta State. It is not about sectionalism, it is about shifting development to other part for the overall economic growth of the state.

He disclosed that the legislative arm has been able to carry out its oversight functions without difficulty, stating that, our relationship with the executive has been symbiotic.

While speaking on the hike in electricity tariff amongst others, he revealed that the Governor has called for a re-enactment of a new power sector bill at the state level to cushion the effects of the tariff on deltans.

He then mooted that the tariff amidst other factor has led to the exodus of several multinationals from the economy space of the country.

Hence, he called for friendly and honest policies to boost Foreign Direct investment (FDI) in the country.
