Two people arrested after 41 mile chase that began in Fond du Lac County

The Fond du Lac County Sheriff's Office said both of the people arrested were convicted felons.

Two people were arrested after a nearly 41-mile chase that began in Fond du Lac County and ended in Germantown on July 5, according to the Fond du Lac County Sheriff's Office.The sheriff's office said a deputy saw the suspect vehicle driving recklessly and through a stop sign at a high rate of speed around 10:20 p.m. The deputy then tried to stop the vehicle, but the suspect vehicle continued to drive away and a chase began.The suspect vehicle then got onto Highway 41 southbound from County Highway B and continued driving recklessly, according to the sheriff's office. Other agencies were then requested to help with the chase. The suspect vehicle tried to exit Highway 41 near Slinger to try and avoid tire deflation devices. At this time, a Fond du Lac County deputy performed a P.I.T. (Pursuit Intervention Technique) maneuver, which was successful. The suspect vehicle was able to regain control and enter back onto the highway near Slinger and continued southbound. Washington County Deputies and Germantown Police officers were able to successfully deploy tire deflation devices. The suspect vehicle then tried to exit the highway on County Line Road, lost control and drove into a ditch.Some bystander vehicles suffered flat tires from the tire deflation devices, according to the sheriff's office.The sheriff's office said one person from the suspect vehicle ran away but was arrested immediately by a Wisconsin State Patrol Trooper. That person suffered some injuries from running through thick vegetation. He was taken to a hospital and released to deputies shortly after. The driver, a 32-year-old man from Fond du Lac, was also arrested. The 32-year-old man, a convicted felon, received felony charges of fleeing and eluding, recklessly endangering safety, and possession of marijuana. The passenger was also a convicted felon with a nationwide felony arrest warrant through probation and parole. The passenger also received charges of resisting and obstructing.The Washington County Sheriff's Office, Slinger Police Department, Germantown Police Department and Wisconsin State Patrol all assisted.
