How does Bruno's April compare to the past?

Bruno Fernandes's goalscoring output in the Premier League last month was the best for a Manchester United player since 2013.

The captain has hit top form and, even disregarding his effort in the Emirates FA Cup semi-final against Coventry City, Opta's stats show just how productive he has been, when compared to our previous years in the competition.

Indeed, the last Red to notch as many goals was Robin van Persie, back in the title-winning 2012/13 campaign when, boosted by a hat-trick against Aston Villa to clinch top spot, the Dutchman also managed six strikes in the month of April.

The most recorded in the Premier League for the club across a single month is seven. This was a feat achieved by Cristiano Ronaldo (twice -  in 2007 and 2008) and prolific marksman Ruud van Nistelrooy, in 2001.

When you consider Fernandes is a midfielder, it makes his achievement even more notable and it was just a shame he could not round it off with a goal in the 1-1 draw against Burnley.

There is far more to the no.8's game than finding the net and it is hoped he can win his race against time to be fit to face Crystal Palace on Monday night (20:00 BST kick-off).
