Liverpool could be ready to splash the cash in the summer transfer window. Reports in Italy suggest the club has entered the race for Victor Osimhen, who is attracting a lot of interest.

Osimhen has been a star performer for Napoli, and links to Liverpool come with question marks being asked over the future of Darwin Núñez. Núñez has struggled to kick on this season and recently saw his future called into question by club legend Jamie Carragher.

It's not just potential new options in attack that may be on Liverpool's radar. There are also ongoing links to midfield and defensive reinforcements.

It's likely that Arne Slot will want to put his stamp on the squad as he looks set to replace Jürgen Klopp. One of the names being increasingly linked is a player he has worked with in the past as he looks to hold an advantage.

Here is the Liverpool.com verdict on the transfer gossip to emerge around the Reds today including the Osimhen rumors and the latest on Teun Koopmeiners.

Victor Osimhen (Napoli)

Victor Osimhen has long been considered one of Europe's top strikers and this could finally be the summer he makes a move. While Manchester United, Paris Saint-Germain, Arsenal and Chelsea have all shown an interest, reports in Italy now claim Liverpool has entered the race.

According to Corriere Dello Sport, Liverpool is now one of the clubs in the race for Osimhen, who it's claimed wants to leave this summer and has his eyes on a Premier League move. It's suggested PSG is in the leading position to pay the $96 million fee Napoli is demanding.

But with Osimhen keen on a move to England, Liverpool and United in particular stand out as potential destinations. The Reds could look to sign Osimhen to replace Núñez after his recent struggles.

Liverpool.com says: Osimhen has been incredible for Napoli over the past two seasons, and it's easy to see why Liverpool might be interested. He scored 26 goals to fire his team to the Serie A title last season and has scored 14 in 22 league games so far this term.

Those numbers and his attributes will see plenty of interest. However, a deal would likely need to make financial sense for Liverpool and FSG. Given his huge release clause, Napoli's demands and other interest, that might not necessarily fall into place but if he's available for the right price, it would be no surprise to see the club keen.

Teun Koopmeiners (Atalanta)

The imminent arrival of Arne Slot has seen increased talk that Liverpool could sign Koopmeiners this summer. The Atalanta midfielder starred under Slot for AZ Alkmaar before heading to Italy in 2021.

The Reds were already being linked with the Dutchman, as well as Italian giants Juventus. The latter are still keen, according to reports in Italy, Quotidiano Sportivo claims Liverpool has an advantage.

They report that Liverpool is high on the midfielder and also has a better financial position than Juventus in order to offer a better deal for both Atalanta and the player. That gives Slot an advantage if he wants to pursue a reunion with his former player, with Juventus believing they currently sit behind Liverpool in the race.

Liverpool.com says: Koopmeiners could be a familiar face for Slot, who looks destined to replace Klopp after recent developments. The midfielder has also progressed as a player in Italy since working with Slot and could be ready for a step up to one of the world's biggest clubs.

While Liverpool's midfield has transformed this season, the process is not yet complete. Koopmeiners could be a welcome addition to add another option to the engine room of the side during a period of transition with a new manager coming in.
