RYAN KENT has finally learned where he stands at Fenerbahce with Jose Mourinho at the helm.

The ex-Rangers star, 27, has been fighting for his future in Istanbul after suffering a nightmare opening season with the Yellow Canaries following his move from Ibrox last summer.

Kent joined Fenerbahce on a free transfer when his Gers deal ended and he hoped to kickstart his career again with another title challenge and more European football while playing in the competitive Turkish Super Lig.

But it didn't work out for the winger last season as he was quickly frozen out by former manager Ismail Kartal just weeks into the campaign.

He started just NINE times across all competitions throughout the season and was sidelined since a Europa League appearance in mid-March.

It's even longer since his last domestic appearance - a five minute cameo in February and Kent was then struck off the club's nominated player list for the league for the remainder of the season.

But the former Liverpool man hoped he could reignite his spell in Turkey when two-time Champions League winner Mourinho was appointed Fenerbahce's new boss last month.

They came face-to-face in training for the first time last week as the legendary coach took charge of his first pre-season session since taking over.

But it seems like the manager wasn't impressed with what he saw from the ex-Ger as he has reportedly booted him out of his squad for next season.

Turkish outlet Sabah claim that Mourinho is prepared to wield the axe on his squad and reduce his list of foreign players from 15 to nine, with six stars - including Kent - shown the door.

The quota for the amount of foreign players allowed in each top flight league squad has been reduced from 14 to 12 for next season, which left Kent with almost little to no chance of being included.

And Mourinho has reportedly finally made his final decision to sell six so that he can recruit another three this summer to take him to 12 in total.

It's said that Mourinho met with sporting director Mario Branco before coming to the final decision.

Along with Kent, Mourinho will also part ways with Luan Peres, Rade Krunic, Miha Zajc, Miguel Crespo and Joao Pedro.

The foreign players left in the squad - including Dominik Livakovic, Dusan Tadic and Edin Dzeko - will remain at the club unless an "astronomical" offer is made this summer.

The six out-of-favour players have all still been called up for the team's pre-season camp in Austria this month.

They travel this week and the players will continue training with their current team-mates while searching for their next move.
