Plans to build 11 homes in a Gloucestershire village are up for debate next week. District planners in the Forest of Dean will make a decision on a proposal to develop over an acre of land off Netherend in Woolaston near Lydney.

The development involves market housing with alterations to the existing road access to provide a formal access way, along with parking and landscaping. If approved there would be a single point of access from Netherend leading into the site which in turn branches to the south east to serve three pairs of semi-detached dwellings with parking in front and gardens to the rear.

The access road would continue into the site before branching to the south east once more, to provide access to a further five dwellings. These are shown to be detached, with three having garages with driveways and two having two parking spaces. Each of the properties would have rear gardens.

And the plans are based on a mix of four three-bed houses, four two-beds and three four-bed properties all of which would be two storeys tall. Woolaston Parish Council has objected to the proposals based on the density of the site, the lack of affordable housing, the inadequate access, foul drainage and traffic intensification.

And some 22 people have signed a petition against the scheme while raising concerns about the proposals. Objectors have concerns over flooding, road safety, an increase in traffic and loss of privacy for surrounding properties.

Planning officers have recommended granting delegated permission subject to conditions. Councillors will debate the proposals at the development management committee meeting on July 9.
