LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: The loving bond between the sister and brother, Leif Erikson (Sam Corlett) and Freydís Eirksdóttir (Frida Gustavsson) will be explored further in 'Viking: Valhalla' Season 3, as hinted by the trailer of the show.

Developed by Jeb Stuart, the show portrays a strong bond between the siblings, which is introduced in the first season when Leif and Freydís arrive at Kattegat to get revenge on the man who sexually molested and left Freydís scarred for years.

Freydís was successful in exacting revenge and to save his sister, Leif decides to join the forces against England.

However, the real-life account paints a different picture of Freydís, which is left out in the show.

Why did Freydís Eiríksdóttir betray Leif Erikson in real life?

Freydís is mentioned in two Vinland sagas: the 'Saga of Erik the Red' and the 'Saga of the Greenlanders'. Freydís is portrayed as a powerful woman in both sagas, although their stories differ.

In 'The Saga of Erik the Red', Freydís is described as a fearsome and brave woman, while in 'The Saga of the Greenlanders', she is portrayed as cunning.

It is revealed that she betrays her brother Leif after traveling to Vinland with two brothers, Helgi and Finnbogi in 'The Saga of the Greenlanders'.

Freydís pledged to divide profits with brothers but did not follow through.

The brothers created their own establishment, which likely led to their deaths. Freydís informed her husband that she had been beaten by the brothers and felt the need for vengeance against them.

While the brothers were sleeping, her husband murdered them, and Freydís slew the ladies in their camp, threatening to kill anyone who revealed her treachery to Leif.

Leif, however, eventually finds out about this but chooses not to punish her since he prophesied Freydís's kids would not thrive.

The possibility of Freydís betraying Leif in the show is quite unlikely, considering that the makers have taken many creative liberties in portraying Freydís as a strong and determined lady, far from the more complicated and vicious character represented in the sagas.

Given the show's depiction of Freydís, it's quite improbable that she'd turn on Leif.

The series has emphasized their tight sibling connection, and there is no hint that this dynamic will shift dramatically.

The show has worked considerably in developing their sibling relationship, and if it does follow the historical facts it would be a significant break from their established character arcs.
