HITC understands that Chelsea are closing in on yet another summer signing under Enzo Maresca.

After Mauricio Pochettino was dismissed from his role at Chelsea following the final day of last season, the club hierarchy settled on Leicester City manager Enzo Maresca as their replacement.

It seems the Argentine has already been busy as the club have already confirmed the free signing of Tosin Adarabioyo from Fulham and the £50 million capture of Palmeiras teenager Estevao Willian.

The Blues are now closing in on another with sources telling HITC that they have struck an agreement with Aaron Anselmino and his representatives about a potential transfer this summer.

Blues closing in on third capture as they agree terms with Anselmino

HITC have previously reported that the Blues, alongside Manchester United, were interested in the Boca Juniors defender, who has made just 10 appearances for the club’s first team.

The West London club are now finalising details with Boca Juniors and sources have told HITC that Chelsea are said to be ‘delighted’ about the imminent capture of one of the most talked about defenders in Europe.

Anselmino has been described as being ‘strong and powerful’ and it appears the Blues have won the race to sign the 20-year-old.

As mentioned, Erik ten Hag’s United were understood to have held an interest in the Argentine but the Old Trafford club never made an offer to the player or the club.

It now looks as if Chelsea are closing in on the signing and the club already have a plan for Anselmino, if the deal does get over the line.

Chelsea’s Anselmino plans explained

Like some of the other youngsters they have signed in recent seasons, HITC have been told that Anselmino will likely spend next season at Ligue 1 side RC Strasbourg, as they are under the Clearlake Capital ownership umbrella.

Marc Guiu, as mentioned, is also close to a move to Chelsea after the Blues struck an agreement with Barcelona but sources say it is unlikely the Spanish striker will be joining Anselmino at the French side on loan and will instead remain at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea are seemingly leaning heavily on their South American scouts this summer and the signing of Anselmino would represent a real coup from those at Stamford Bridge.

The club were also hoping to add to their South American contingent with the signing of Pedro Lima but Wolves stole in to sign the Brazilian right-back from under Chelsea’s noses.
