The Commissioner for Education, Professor Ngozi Chuma-Udeh has said that Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s passion for education and the need to end the era of schools without teachers in Anambra State, informed his decision to recruits qualified teachers.

Commissioner Chuma-Udeh who was reacting to questions from a team from the Auditor General’s office, who were in her office for the assessment of teachers recruitment and deployment exercise to Anambra State Public Schools, said that Governor Soludo gave the mandate for the exercise shortly after assumption of office, unlike others who would recruit few months before the end of their tenure.

She pointed out that the exercise which was strictly on merit has tremendously improved the school system, as schools have continued to win laurels in various international and national competitions.

Speaking earlier, the leader of the performance audit team, Mrs Caritas Ezeonu stated that they were in the Commissioner’s office to have detailed information on the processes followed at ensuring quality education for pupils and students of Anambra State.

She appreciated Commissioner Chuma-Udeh for the warm reception and her detailed information to the team.

Meanwhile, the new State Co-ordinator of the National Examination Councilcl NECO, Mrs. Emily Njoku and the Examination Administrator, Mr. Ojo James have paid a familiarization visit to the Commissioner for Education Professor Ngozi Chuma-Udeh in her office.

Welcoming the NECO officers to Anambra State, Commissioner Chuma-Udeh expressed the hope that with their arrival, Governor Soludo’s zero tolerance for examination malpractice will receive further boost.
