A’Ibom: Police Nabs Three Suspected Armed Robbers, Recover Pistol

Akwa Ibom State Police Command has bursted a three man robbery gang syndicate terrorizing Ikot Abasi village in Onna Local Government Area of the state.

A statement issued by the Akwa Ibom Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) ASP Timfon John and made available to Journalists in Uyo on Saturday listed the robbery suspects as John Okon Anta, Michael Osudua and Inyene Joseph Edet .

The Police PRO disclosed that the suspects allegedly attacked and robbed one their victim at gun point and snatched his Qlink motorcycle, phones and power bank charger.

She said items recovered from the suspected robbers include locally made pistol used in their operations.

The statement partly reads: “The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has arrested suspected armed robbery syndicate who has been terrorizing Ikot Abasi village and its environs.

“The Command in it’s intensified effort on 1st of July, 2024 at about 02:00hrs arrested three members of an armed robbery syndicate namely, John Okon Anta ‘M’ Michael Osudua ‘M’ and Inyene Joseph Edet ‘M’ who allegedly attacked and robbed one man (name withheld) on gun point and carted away his QLINK Motorcycle, phones, power bank charger.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects had earlier robbed two houses at Afaha Ikot Abasi Village and carted away cell phones and other valuable items.

“The Suspects has confessed to the crime and will be charged to court upon completion of investigation.”

The Police Spokesperson explained that effort was ongoing to arrest
other fleeing members of the gang

Timfon said the Commissioner of Police Akwa Ibom State Police Command, CP Waheed Ayilara has reiterated the command’s unwavering commitment to rid the state of criminal elements and make the state safe for all.

“The CP while appreciating members of the public for their continuous support to the command, urged anyone with valuable information that will lead to the arrest of the fleeing suspects to alert the command immediately through the nearest police state in the state.
