White Rock's annual Pride Week is returning this month with all of the usual events, plus a little extra, to mark the time for inclusion and embracing of one's identity.

Kicking off the walk will be the raising of the Pride flag at White Rock City Hall on July 19 at 5 p.m.

"This is an important moment to recognize and celebrate the LGBTQ+ community and the diversity that makes our city so vibrant. We’ll be raising the Pride Flag to mark the start of a week-long celebration of inclusivity and acceptance," reads the White Rock Pride Society's website.

Immediately following the flag-raising will be the returning Pride Ride at 7 p.m. Participating vehicles will take a cruise down Marine Drive decked out in Pride decor. People of all ages are welcome to participate in the free event, with those interested asked to have their mode of transportation parked at Centennial Park at 6 p.m. where the decorating will commence, with organizers bringing extras to share.

New this year is what comes after the Pride Ride, which will be an after-party at the Peace Arch Curling Club lounge located at Centennial Arena at about 8 p.m. This event, however, is ticketed and will only be available to the first 80 individuals who purchase. Free food, drinks and live entertainment are promised for the night.

Not new, but widely loved years prior, is the Family Day event during Pride Week, on Saturday, July 20 this year at Miramar Plaza.

From 11 a.m. to about 4 p.m., the plaza will be alive with a kids zone, vendors to peruse and a family-friendly drag show with a Taylor Swift-inspired queen featured.

"This event aims to bring joy, laughter and fun to our White Rock community, where we can show the world that White Rock is a progressive, vibrant, and inclusive city for everyone to visit, live and play," an event announcement states.

"When we see one another with love, the world becomes a better place."

The White Rock Business Improvement Association (BIA) will be holding a mixer at White Rock Beach Beer Company from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday, July 22 for a free event to celebrate Pride.

And finally, wrapping up the week is the Love is Love Gala fundraiser to bring "love, diversity and celebration" to generous folks wanting to show their pride and contribute funds to the Rainbow Youth Connection Groups at Alex House. Tickets are now on sale for the 5:30 p.m. July 26 event on whiterockpride.com
