  • Manage MS SQL and MYSQL Server databases through multiple product lifecycle environments, from development to mission-critical production systems.
  • Configure and maintain database servers and processes, including monitoring of system health and performance, to ensure high levels of performance, availability, and security.
  •  Apply data modeling techniques to ensure development and implementation support efforts meet integration and performance expectations
  • Independently analyze, solve, and correct issues in real-time, providing problem resolution end-to-end.
  • Refine and automate regular processes, track issues, and document changes.
  • Assist developers with complex query tuning and schema refinement.
  • Provide 24x7 support for critical production systems.
  • Perform scheduled maintenance and support release deployment activities after hours.
  • Establish the needs of users monitoring user access and security and control access permissions and privileges.
  • Monitor performance and manage parameters to provide fast responses to front-end users.
  • Map out the conceptual design for a planned database.
  • Consider both back-end organization of data and front-end accessibility for end-users.
  • Further refining the physical design to meet system storage requirements.
  • Maintain data standards, including adherence to the Data Protection Act. And write database documentation, including data standards, procedures.
  • Develop, manage and test back-up and recovery plans and ensure that storage and archiving procedures are functioning correctly.
  • Communicate regularly with technical, applications and operational staff to ensure database integrity and security.
  • Manage the security and disaster recovery aspects of a database.
  • Assisting in database design for new systems when needed and Setting up and testing new database and data handling systems.
  • Updating and amending existing databases if required.
  • Install and test new versions of the database management system (DBMS).
  • Monitoring database efficiency.
  • Creating complex query definitions that allow data to be extracted upon on business requirements.
  • Assist colleagues when needed in how to input and extract data from dbs.
  • However, the work you do will greatly assist other members of the organization, including analysts, programmers and IT managers who all require reports to collate information for planning, reference and communications purposes.
  • Experience with Performance Tuning and Optimization (PTO), using native monitoring and troubleshooting tools.
  •  Knowledge of High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) options for SQL Server
  • Ability to multi-task and context-switch effectively between different activities and teams
  • Must be a self-driven and results-oriented individual capable of effectively working multiple tasks concurrently across a diverse program landscape.
  • The ability to handle multiple priorities under deadlines is also required.
  • Should possess the ability to prepare manuals to address db. Monitoring requirements and assisting in establishing appropriate procedures.
  •  Must have strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to articulate and present concise, intelligent, decisive, and risk-managed recommendations.
  • Demonstrate effective interpersonal skills to work with employees and leaders at all levels of the organization and the ability to create and maintain strong working relationships with colleagues.
  • Effective teaming and virtual teaming skills are also required.
  • Could support off-hour operations requirements as needed.
  • Strong analytical-critical thinking and Investigation capability.
  • Familiarity with the main data manipulation languages and the principles of database design.
  • The ability to work to tight deadlines under pressure.
  • Eye for detail, accuracy, business awareness, and understanding of business requirements.
  • Understanding of structured query language (SQL) and willingness to keep up to date with developments in new technology.
  • Knowledge of 'relational database management systems' (RDBMS), and 'object-oriented database management systems' (OODBMS).
  • Experience with MS SQL and MYSQL database software/web applications.
  • Commitment to continuing professional development (CPD) and understanding of information legislation, such as the Data Protection Act. In addition, Up-to-date knowledge of technology.
  • Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment, where the technology is constantly changing.
  • MCTS, MCITP, and/or MVP certifications a plus
