33-year-old man dies after Sheboygan stabbing

A 33-year-old Sheboygan man is dead after a stabbing on July 6 near 25th Street and Broadway Avenue in Sheboygan, according to police.The Sheboygan Police Department said officers responded before 6 p.m. for a report of the 33-year-old being stabbed by his 34-year-old roommate. The 33-year-old was initially helped by neighbors before being taken by a Sheboygan Fire Department ambulance to a hospital. Despite life-saving measures, the 33-year-old man died at the hospital.Investigators obtained a search warrant for the home, and the Sheboygan Police Department's Emergency Response Team was called to help take the 34-year-old man into custody, according to police. Officers continued to try to communicate with the 34-year-old, who remained inside the home for several hours without any response. Officers eventually used a vehicle-mounted ram to breach the front door of the home and continued to issue commands for the 34-year-old to cooperate. After several minutes, he exited the home and was arrested.Police said the 34-year-old man was taken to the Sheboygan County Detention Center and is being referred to the Sheboygan County District Attorney's Office for a charge of first-degree intentional homicide. Police are still investigating the stabbing and will be helping the involved families with support services. There is no continued risk to the public.The Sheboygan Fire Department, Sheboygan County Sheriff's Office, Manitowoc County Sheriff's Office and the Wisconsin State Patrol also helped. Police also thanked the surrounding neighbors for their patience.
