Triple-digit heat will linger in Dallas-Fort Worth through the July 4th holiday with storms possibly raining on the holiday weekend.

Continuing the hot and humid trend, which prompted heat advisories Sunday and Monday in North Texas, heat index values through Independence Day will be between 100 and 110 in Dallas-Fort Worth, according to the National Weather Service.

The actual high temperatures in Dallas are predicted to be 101 or 102 during the beginning of the week. Low temperatures won’t offer much reprieve as they’re expected to hover around 82 most of the week.

The low temperatures at Dallas-Forth Worth International Airport set daily records three times in June (all within the last week) as the highest minimum temperature for that date. The low temperature on June 26 was 82, tying a 2023 record; it was 81 on June 29, beating the record set in 2023 by one degree; and 82 on June 30, surpassing the record of 80 set in 1979 then tied in 2020 and 2023, according to historical weather data.

Storm chances return late this week, according to the weather service. The strongest chance for storms will likely be Friday but a low chance of rain will linger through the weekend.

The weak cold front that accompanies the rain will also cause a slight dip in temperatures, bringing the daily highs down to the 90s for Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
