A commercial motorcyclist by the name Edward Bamidele has been crushed to death by a water-laden tanker in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.

The incident occurred at the popular Alesinloye Market road near the Central Police Station Iyaganku also housing the State Police Criminal Investigation Department.

The accident occured around 7:30am on Wednesday morning when the commercial motorcyclist was attempting to overtake the tanker but lost control in the process,

He was rammed crushed by the tanker leading to his death.

The passenger he was conveying during the incident however escaped unhurt as he jumped off the motorcycle when the motorcycle fell.

Officials of the Nigerian Police, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Oyo State Road Traffic Management Authority (OYRTMA) and other relevant agencies, were prompt in their response to ensure orderliness at the scene of the accident as well as traffic management.

As of the time of filing this report, the body of the deceased has been moved to the State Hospital, Adeoyo mortuary.

Meanwhile, the driver of the tanker without registration escaped from the scene before the arrival of law enforcement agents.
