Ngozi Ezeonu is a veteran Nollywood actress and former journalist notable for her maternal roles in Nollywood movies. She has been described as the mother of Nollywood. She was born on 23rd May 1965 in Ogbunike, Anambra State in the south eastern part of Nigeria. She is currently 57 years old. In 2012, she starred in Adesuwa, a role that earned her the Best Supporting Actress nomination at the 8th Africa Movie Academy Awards.

Her father’s name is Dennis Ikpelue while her mother’s name is Ezenwanyi Ikpelue. She is a native of Ogbunike, but was born and bred in Owerri, Imo state and has six siblings. Before finding fame and mainstream success as an actress, she studied Journalism at the Nigerian Institute of Journalism and worked for Radio Lagos and Eko FM as a radio presenter and news anchor.

Although she is best known for her reprisal of mother figures in several Nollywood movies, Ngozi Ezeonu was originally cast as a younger character at the start of her acting career in the early 90s. In 1993, veteran film director Zeb Ejiro offered Ngozi Ezeonu a supporting role as Nkechi, the antagonist’s best friend in the Igbo blockbuster film Nneka The Pretty Serpent and she was just 28 years old. This was followed by her role in the 1994 blockbuster movie Glamour Girls, where she played the role of Thelma, a high society mistress.

She has been in the industry for almost three decades. She always plays the role of a good mother, royal queen, mother in-law and house wife in several Nollywood movies.
