Ronald Araujo’s future at Barcelona is yet to be decided as the 2024 summer transfer window approaches.

Even though there are simply no questions about the 24-year-old’s importance or quality. It’s no secret that Barca need to sell at least two key players in the summer in order to sign their preferred targets.

Araujo is a top player who has a keen interest in leaving and the ability to command a large transfer fee. So his name has emerged as a potential departee.

However, Barcelona wants to hang onto Araujo for the upcoming season. They have even put up a renewal offer for the Uruguay international player.

According to SPORT as reported by Barca Universal, Barçelona are currently awaiting their third captain’s definitive decision regarding the renewal. It is anticipated that he is going to respond this month.

Although the Blaugrana are determined to keep hold of Araujo, they are aware that the defender and his entourage may not be completely won over by the proposed renewal.

According to the report, the Laliga giants put forth a plan to pay Araujo more money and extend his contract until 2028.

The wage cap is tight and a top-level increase cannot be considered at this time. So the offer presented does not place the central defender in the high range of the Blaugrana’s current wages.

But going into the summer transfer window, teams like Manchester United and Bayern Munich are still adamant about signing Araujo.

These clubs could entice Araujo’s entourage to consider a transfer by being able to not only match but also surpass Barcelona’s contract offer.
