Two Arrested After Robbing Lagos Shop Owner

One Musa Ibrahim, 30, and his colleague Ibrahim Danjuma, 22, have been arrested for robbing a woman in her shop in Lagos State.

The robbery happened around 11 pm in the Imude area of Ojo LGA of the state.

The suspects were arrested by the police with the help of community members.

A locally made firearm was recovered from the two suspects.

This was disclosed by the Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, on Sunday.

“30-year-old Musa Ibrahim and 22-year old Ibrahim Danjuma robbed a woman in her shop at about 11pm in the Imude area of Ojo LGA. The police were alerted and a patrol team from Ilemba Hausa Division swiftly responded,” Hundeyin said.

“The suspects were apprehended with the help of community members. A locally made firearm was recovered. Indeed, security is everyone’s business,” the police spokesperson added.

In a related development, one Abubakar Mohammed was arrested around 3am on Sunday, by patrol officers from Idimu Division, at Pipeline Street with a locally made pistol and one live cartridge. His arrest comes less than 24 hours after a 25-year-old man, identified as Toibu Hassan, was arrested by police officers from Elere Division in the early hours of Saturday.

One locally made pistol and one expended cartridge were recovered from Hassan.

According to Hundeyin, investigation is still ongoing.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Adegoke Fayoade, was in Agege on Saturday. His visit was in response to complaints of harassment and petty robberies along the rail lines in the area.

“Worried by complaints of harassment and petty robberies along the rail lines in Agege, the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Adegoke Fayoade, mni embarked on a fact-finding visit to the area.

“He has since ordered a rejig of the security architecture in the area, charging DPOs within the vicinity to ensure optimal provision of security,” Hundeyin disclosed.
