In terms of Brendan Rodgers starting XI picks this season, tomorrow’s Young Boys clash should be one of his easiest.

Celtic need three points to qualify for the Champions League knockout playoff spot and there won’t be a better opportunity than to do so in front of a packed out Parkhead.

It cannot come down to matchday eight against Aston Villa with Unai Emery issuing the Hoops a warning earlier this week about how he plans to compete next week.

So it essentially all comes down to Wednesday evening in Glasgow as manager Brendan Rodgers will demand the victory and a solid performance to build on the win over Kilmarnock at the weekend.

Brendan Rodgers must go strong for Celtic vs Young Boys

Young Boys won’t take this game lightly and their boss Giorgio Contini fired a caution of his own at Celtic.

That appeared to be a foolish one after Contini’s side failed to win their following game but Rodgers won’t be sitting on his hands as he prepares for what Chris Sutton described as the biggest game in a long time for Celts.

The Irishman should have a full squad to choose from after they came through the Killie clash with only James Forrest still on the sidelines.

Potential Celtic starting XI vs Young Boys in Champions League

Kasper Schmeichel will undoubtedly start between the sticks as he looks to keep his 21st clean sheet of the season.

The back four will be as strong as possible with Alistair Johnston, Cameron Carter-Vickers, Auston Trusty ahead of Liam Scales being picked as well as Greg Taylor at left-back.

In midfield we expect Callum McGregor to keep his usual role with the armband on while Arne Engels starts alongside him and Reo Hatate looking to influence the engine room ahead of Paulo Bernardo.

Daizen Maeda is invaluable on the left while Nicolas Kuhn is equally important on the right.

And rather than starting Adam Idah or Celtic’s pair of strikers together up front, it will likely be Kyogo who plays on his own.

There may well be calls from some sections of the support for Alex Valle to play from the start ahead of Taylor at the back while Luke McCowan has shown up so well in recent weeks.

But with so much riding on this one fixture, Rodgers in all likelihood will go with the tried and tested at the highest level.
