A man riding a moped was killed when he turned in front of an oncoming car on Louisburg Road in North Raleigh on Friday night, according to police.

Said Ramirez-Silva, 25, tried to turn left from northbound Louisburg Road onto Fox Road when he was hit by a Nissan Altima at about 9:34 p.m., according to police.

The collision knocked Ramirez-Silva from his bike into the side of another car. He was taken to a hospital, where he later died, police said.

Ramirez-Silva had a flashing yellow left turn signal, which means he was free to cross Louisburg Road onto Fox if it was safe. The southbound Altima had a green light, police said.

Police arrested the driver of the Altima, Jordan John, 20, and charged him with driving while impaired. They say their investigation of the crash is not complete.
