Foundation earmarks N1.5m for 22 pupils in Zamfara

A non-governmental organisation, the Zakat and Sadaqat Foundation, based in Lagos, has earmarked the sum of N1.5 million for 22 selected orphans and less privileged pupils in Zamfara State.

This was disclosed on Wednesday in Gusau, the state capital, by Sheikh Sulaiman Olagunju, Executive Director of the Foundation, during the Zakat Distribution Ceremony held at the Rabiat Jumu’at Mosque’s old site in Gusau.

He revealed that the Zakat and Sadaqat foundation covered 19 states in the North, adding that in Zamfara State, benefiting pupils were selected from 7 schools in the state.

The Executive Director of Zakkat and Sadaqat Foundation, Suleiman Olagunju, who was represented by Zamfara state coordinator of the foundation, Mallam Ibrahim Tudu, disclosed that this year the sum of one million five hundred thousand was earmarked for distribution to orphans and less privileged students in Zamfara state.

“N1.5 million was earmarked for distribution to orphans and less privileged pupils this year in Zamfara State; the foundation sponsors all the school fees of the beneficiaries from junior to senior secondary education in the state.”.

The Zamfara State Coordinator, Mallam Ibrahim Tudu, said 22 students from 7 schools were sponsored in the state by the foundation (Zakkat and Sadaqat Foundation).

Ibrahim Tudu explained that orphans and less privileged people are the beneficiaries of the assistance in the state.

He maintained that, as a result of the assistance from the foundation, some pupils have graduated with six hizbs of the Holy Quran, while others have also memorised the Holy Quran.

Tudu stressed that the foundation has paid registration fees for 22 beneficiaries at nursery, primary, and secondary schools in the state.

He advised beneficiaries against any form of social vice, to remain in their respective schools and avoid absenteeism and absconding from school. He added that periodic supervision would be intensified by the official of the foundation in the state.
