Some members of the Legacy Group of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Akoko-Edo local government area of Edo State have disassociated themselves from the call for the resignation of the deputy governor Marvellous Omobayo.

The call for Omobayo’s resignation as Governor Godwin Obaseki’s deputy after the impeachment of Comrade Philip Shaibu is allegedly being championed by another set of politicians led by Dan Orbih.

A leader of the Omobayo’s supporters in the group said those behind the call were “failed politicians.”

The leader who craved anonymity described the report by one Paul Dada as not only self-serving but fueled by political bitterness and jealousy.

One Paul Dada who in a publication  in some social media platforms claimed to represent the Legacy Group faction of the PDP, had called for the resignation of Omobayo.

He said, “The call by a faceless and attention seeking Paul Dada who purportedly represents the Legacy Group faction of the People Democratic Party (PDP) in Edo North, led by Chief Dan Orbih and reported the decision of the group in various social media platforms calling for the removal of the newly inaugurated digital Deputy Governor of Edo State, His Excellency, Marvellous Omobayo was a joke taken too far.

“The inauguration of the deputy governor, which triggered overwhelming commendation and jubilation across the state and ushered in hope with a sense of belonging  across the  Edo North and Akoko-Edo in  particular has continued to put the Deputy Governor’s adversaries in obvious panic mode.

“Prominent leaders of Edo North expressed satisfaction for the choice of Omobayo as the new Deputy Governor of Edo State. The former deputy governor of Edo State and former chief of staff to former President Goodluck Jonathan, Chief Mike Ogiadomhe, Senator Victor Oyoifo, Senator Yisa Braimoh, Chief Olu Fashanu, the Iyama of Okpe Kingdom and Speaker EDHA, Hon Blessing Agbebaku.

Others are Hon Yekini Idaiye, Hon Chief Shegun Saiki, senatorial chairman, Mr Ademola Shaibu-Ekha, Hon Johnson Abolagba, Ambassador Dele Idaomi, Elder Olu Dania, Mrs P O Balogun, Okomayin Monday Sule, Hon Onaivi Ojo, Mr Abiodu Johnson CEO ABIFA Oil and Gas Ltd, Hon Inumidun Taiwo, Hon Henry Ashefor, Hon Solomon Taiwo, Hon Momoh Andrew Ojo Momoh (aka) Special, Mrs Ugbesea and Chief Taiwo Akerele, former chief of staff to Governor Obaseki, an APC Chieftain among other PDP Chieftains lauded and celebrated the choice of Omobayo as the new deputy governor.

„Omobayo has since started working to complement the efforts of Governor Godwin Obaseki, led the powerful state delegation on behalf of the governor to the 6th meeting of the National Council Niger Delta.

„All parochial, attention seekers and self-serving individuals calling for the deputy governor‘s removal are failed politicians, who lack the legitimacy and trust to speak for the good people of Akoko-Edo,“ he said.
