This groundbreaking innovation is designed to enhance financial inclusion for visually impaired individuals, empowering them to independently access banking services with ease.

The Braille forms, a first in the banking industry of Ghana, not only underscore UBA Ghana’s commitment to inclusivity and accessibility in banking but also align with the global mission of Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 10 on reducing inequalities. This initiative also supports Principle 5 of the Ghana Sustainable Banking Principles (GSBPs).

This is a testament to our commitment to inclusivity in the banking sector.”

The Ghana Blind Union expressed enthusiasm for Braille forms, emphasizing their importance in fostering independence and confidence among visually impaired individuals. Dr Peter Obeng-Asamoa, the Union’s director, praised UBA Ghana for leading the charge in inclusive banking solutions.

“Independence is crucial for visually impaired persons,” Dr. Obeng-Asamoa noted. “UBA Ghana’s initiative marks a significant milestone in the banking sector, empowering visually impaired individuals to manage their finances independently.”

They will be available across all UBA Banking Halls nationwide, setting a high standard for other banking institutions in Ghana and Africa to emulate. This initiative is a significant step towards a more inclusive and equitable society where everyone can thrive.
