First-Day Formalities, Infrastructure, First Impression

Since it’s a virtual internship, I was added to the WhatsApp group, and one of the internship coordinators and founders of Legal Vidhiya welcomed me and other co-interns into the group where the tasks were allotted to us. Whenever I interacted with my co-interns, they were found to be competent and talented in their respective areas, which seems to me to be the best learning environment for a beginner.

Main Tasks

Provide 10 cases on the first date of the month and also have a deadline to submit the case analysis of the various judgements of the Supreme Court related to constitutional law, contract law, family law, as well as one case from criminal and civil law.

The main task is to submit all case analyses after checking the plagiarism, as the policy of legal Vidya is very strict towards plagiarism, and if any task is found to have more than 20% plagiarism, it will result in disqualification of the task.

Work Environment

Participating in a virtual law internship provides a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience and exposure to the legal profession without leaving your home. Unlike traditional law internships that require you to physically attend an office and interact with colleagues in person, virtual internships provide a more flexible and accessible approach. This is my first virtual internship, and I have gained knowledge about various doctrines of the Supreme Court.

Good Things

  • As this is a virtual internship, there is no need to travel as compared to my previous internship, which was an on-site internship in Faridabad District Courts.
  • This internship also helps with time management and organisation, as there is an ongoing sessional exam at my college.
  • Problem-solving and critical thinking after reading the case laws and analysing them.

Bad Things

  • There was no point of negative impact on this internship as this was a virtual internship and I needed to always be on the device, which sometimes caused headaches as I manage all the tasks on my mobile because I don’t have a laptop.
  • Overall, it was a great internship experience. I learned a lot from it being my first virtual internship, and it gave me insights into the world of legal research.

Stipend

No stipend is paid during the internship.
