A main road through a Nottinghamshire town was closed while emergency services responded to a house fire. Three fire crews were called to a home in Annesley Road, Hucknall at 1.25pm on Monday, July 8.

The road, which links Hucknall and Annesley, was closed in both directions between Spring Road and Church Lane by police. A spokesperson for Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service said the blaze was reported by a neighbour.

They added that all people living in the house had been accounted for, with no injuries reported at present. Crews from Hucknall and Ashfield remain at the scene, with one from Arnold leaving the scene earlier.

Buses have been forced to divert due to the closure, including Trentbarton's the Threes service. "Annesley Road in Hucknall has been closed due to a @nottspolice & @nottsfire incident & #thethrees are diverting via Spring Road, Wood Lane & A611," the bus operator said in a social media post.

"We will be missing the following stops in both directions: Brook Street. St Marys Way. Victoria Street. Annesley Road."
