The Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) has reiterated its commitment to collaborating closely with the Nigerian Police Force to uphold peace and security in Plateau State.

This was emphasized Friday, during a courtesy visit by the leadership of PCRC to Emmanuel Olugbemiga Adesina, the Commissioner of Police, Plateau State Command.

During the visit, the PCRC delegation, led by Musa Ashoms, its Chairman and Plateau State Commissioner for Information and Communications, he highlighted the committee’s dedication to supporting the police in intelligence gathering and sharing.

Ashoms reiterated the importance of their partnership with the Nigerian Police Force, stating, “We are your first line of intelligence gathering and sharing. In the interest of the peace and prosperity of Plateau State, we will continue to collaborate with the Nigerian Police Force. As a team, we come from different spheres of life, just as our faces are different. We cover the 29 divisions on the Plateau, and there is a need for proper synergy.”

Addressing the issue of misuse of PCRC identification, he highlighted the importance of verification.

He said: “Because of the robust relationship we have with the Nigerian police, people use our paraphernalia to circumvent security checks. We have agreed that all our accoutrements must be verified and issued by the police via the office of the PPRO This measure is aimed at ensuring that the PCRC’s resources are used appropriately and do not compromise security.”

The Chairman stressed the importance of integrity and collaboration with the police.

“We will continue to cooperate, synergize, and support the Nigerian Police Force. We are going to work in tandem. Very soon, our membership drive will expand as many people have expressed interest in joining us,” he affirmed.

In his response, Adesina praised the essential role of the PCRC in the operations of the Nigerian Police Force at all levels.

“The PCRC has been an integral part of the Nigerian Police Force at federal, state, and local government levels. It is a structure we depend on to serve our people better,” he said.

He acknowledged the importance of the PCRC in providing valuable support, particularly in intelligence gathering and the importance of a robust partnership between the PCRC and the Nigerian Police Force.

We are going to have a robust relationship and understanding. We will work together, especially at the divisional and area command levels. Please continue to support us, and if you see any of our men misbehaving, let us know. We will commend good behavior and punish wrongdoing as necessary,” he said.
