Nevada City Councilmember Doug Fleming hangs off the back of Engine 3 waving the American flag proudly during the holiday parade Saturday morning that lasted over an hour. Temperatures were in the mid 90s and shade was thin, but that did not prevent people from lining up along Broad Street in Nevada City to see the over 50 entries expected in the 4th of July parade celebrating the passage of the Declaration of Independence by the Continental Congress in 1776.

Folks from Nevada City Self Storage did their part to keep the parade goers cool in the toasty mid day sun on Saturday during the July 4th Parade in Nevada City by squirting the crowds with water. Jacque Day (facing left) is co- owner with Joe Day IV, and his son Joe Day V. The family business owns its own fire truck that is fully functional to protect storage units utilized by their clients.

Vietnam Veterans of America, the Nevada County Chapter, participated in the Independence Day Parade held in Nevada City this year. The 1971 AM General 2 1/2 ton 6 x 6 model #M35A2 vehicle is owned and operated by Bill Slade and Sons Trucking Company out of Nevada City.

Crowds lined Broad Street in Nevada City on Saturday morning for the Fourth of July Parade that showcased individuals and groups from across the county.

The heat was on and shade was thin as noon approached, but everyone appeared to appreciate the 50 or more entries that made their way down Broad Street.
