Hakim Kizza, the Kampala Capital City's Executive Secretary for Works and Physical Planning, has announced his candidacy for the Bukoto South Parliamentary seat following his return from Hajj, the sacred pilgrimage for Muslims.

Hakim made his declaration on Saturday during a celebration at Kalegero Village in Kisekka Subcounty, Lwengo District.

The event was attended by political activists, leaders, and community members.

Expressing gratitude for his service in various roles, including at KCCA as Secretary for Works and Physical Planning, Kizza emphasized his desire to return to his home constituency to serve.

"Some may speculate my departure from Kampala politics, but the overwhelming support from leaders shows the need for our service at the national level within the National Unity Platform," he stated.

"Many think my origin is in Kampala, but know, Lwengo is my ancestral home. I studied from this side until senior six and this is my parents' home."

The celebration was blessed by the Super Supreme Mufti Sheik Muhammad Galabuzi, urging the West Buganda Muslim community to follow Kizza's leadership example and unite.

Fred Nyanzi, NUP's national chairman for mobilization, praised Kizza's leadership and mobilization skills in Kampala and Lwengo district, endorsing his parliamentary candidacy.

"We expected him  to remain in Kampala's leadership, yet his decision to contest in Bukoto South will strengthen the NUP," Nyanzi remarked.

Kalungu East MP, Francis Katabaazi and his Rubaga North counterpart, Abubaker Kawalya called on Bukoto South residents to chose Kizza over the incumbent legislator for deviating from party principles.

They vowed to uphold transparency and zero tolerance for corruption within the party, standing firm against internal challenges.
