Residents condemn incessant outage in Omi-Adio

The senatorial chairman of the Iba Gani Adams led Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC), Alhaji Muritala Adekola Ifawale, has shown displeasure over the incessant power outage by Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) at Omi-Adio in Ido Local Government Area of Oyo State.

Ifawale lamented that IBEDC has failed to supply adequate power to Omi-Adio and its environs in recent times.

“What have we done in Omi Adio that made IBEDC to relegate us by not giving us light as and when due? Omi Adio is one of the biggest local government areas in Oyo State. It is uncalled for.

“The unfortunate thing is that some companies owned by foreigners in the local government are getting light frequently. The light they supposed to be distributing to us is being given to them. Are we not entitled to functional electricity? Or are the people of Omi Adio second class citizens? I was born and bred in Omi Adio. It is over six months now that we have had light.

“I want to implore IBEDC to, as a matter of urgency, find a lasting solution to the outage in Ido Local Government Area. Omi Adio is a town and not a village. We have personalities who are from Omi Adio such as Niyi Akintola, Professor Niyi Olowofela among others,” Ifawale said.

Meanwhile, Ifawale has appealed to the state governor, Seyi Makinde, the Olubadan-designate, Oba Olakulehin Owolabi, Ibadan Mogajis, chairman of Ido Local Government Area, Sheriff Adeojo to reconsider the suspension of the Onido of Ido, Baale Muritala Babalola Gbadewolu 1.

“I am pleading on behalf of Baale Muritala Babalola that our governor should forgive him for whatever he might have done wrong, because during his reign, Ido community witnessed development in all areas of life. Apart from this, the people of Ido Local Government Area love the way he administered the town,” Ifawale said.
