'An Epic Tale of England' brings the past to life with a blockbuster open-air performance at Kynren.

Two thousand years of history, myth and legend will rush by in 90 minutes as visitors join young Arthur on his epic quest - and rebellions, wars, magic, majesty, celebration and heartache are vividly portrayed in this dazzling outdoor theatre spectacular.

New for 2024, families can also travel back in time and visit the Viking Village.

They'll be able to talk and interact with the villagers as they go about their daily lives, visit the cookhouse, see them tend to the animals, prepare meals and watch the blacksmith at work in his forge producing real chainmail.

3. Little Lindi Festival

The team behind Lindisfarne Festival are bringing families 'Little Lindi' - a festival just for the kids.

Going back to nature, the event offers a weekend off-grid with hundreds of activities included in the ticket price for kids from 0-14, that bigger kids will enjoy too.

Set on the stunning Lambton Estate in County Durham, Little Lindi made its debut in July 2022 and will be returning from July 26-28, 2024.

Yorkshire Wildlife Park is gearing up for a jam-packed summer with a string of new animal arrivals and a stunning concert line-up.

Visitors can enjoy a unique walk-through experience coming almost face-to-face with some of the world’s most beautiful and at-risk species, including polar bears, Amur leopards, giraffes and sea lions.

There will also be an opportunity to meet Aysa, Emi, Santa and Teddi, the lions rescued from war-torn Ukraine, along with endangered eastern black rhino Rocco and one-year-old Amur leopard Auckley.

The space celebrates the region’s rich history of creativity and invention by connecting the old with the new, and telling a compelling story of hope in the face of the climate crisis.

They can see Bob Olley's art, historical models including a steam turbine by Tyneside’s Charles Parsons, and an electrical generator by Newcastle-born John Henry Holmes, as well as a cutaway Nissan Leaf car.

8. Whitehouse Farm Centre
