CDS Receives Grand Reception From South African Counterpart, Highlights Security Cooperation

PRETORIA, July 1- General Christopher Gwabin Musa, the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) of Nigeria, was warmly welcomed by General Rudzani Maphwanya, Chief of the South Africa National Defence Force (SANDF), during an official visit to Pretoria, South Africa. Upon his arrival, General Musa was honoured with Cannon Gun Salutes, signifying the high regard in which he is held by his South African counterpart.

The meeting, held behind closed doors, focused on areas of mutual interest and potential cooperation. General Maphwanya emphasized the importance of this dialogue between two of Africa’s largest economies and military powers, noting that such engagements are crucial for addressing the continent’s multifaceted challenges.

General Musa described the meeting as essential for enhancing mutual cooperation and reinforcing bilateral ties. The leaders discussed various measures to tackle regional security challenges and explored the exchange of expertise to strengthen ties for the benefit of the continent.

Attendees at the meeting included senior SANDF officials, such as the Chiefs of Intelligence, Policy and Plans, International Affairs, and Joint Operations, among other departmental chiefs.

This visit marks a significant step towards fostering stronger defence relations and collaboration between Nigeria and South Africa, aiming to enhance security and stability across Africa.
