Eddie Murphy has many action movies in his filmography, but how do they all rank alongside one another, including the Beverly Hills Cop trilogy?

As per ET Online, Murphy reveals plans to remake IIt's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World. According to the comedian, he has been "developing [the script] for years" for an adaptation of It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World. Said script will be for a film with "a cast of all the who's who of comedians." One of said comedians will be Martin Lawrence, though it is unclear exactly who else would star in the film. Murphy spoke highly of the original movie, calling it "one of [his] favorite movies of all time." Check out the full quote from Murphy below:

I got this other idea for something with Martin [Lawrence]. I've been developing it for years. Did you ever see a movie It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World? Well, I got a script, it will be delivered any minute now written by Jez Butterworth and I'm trying to do a remake of that movie.

It's one of my favorite movies of all time and if I do it, if the script turns out right, it's gonna be a cast of all the who's who of comedians. Anybody that was funny over the last 30 years is going to be in this movie.

Why This It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World Remake Would Work Well

It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World is a tough act to follow. The original film was nominated for six Oscars, winning an award in the since-retired category Best Effect, Sound Effects. The film is a beloved comedy of the '60s, and featured a number of beloved main actors who collectively made up an iconic leading ensemble. Heading up this cast was Tracy, who made his penultimate film appearance in the role, for he ended up passing away four years later in 1967.

If Murphy's plan were to come to fruition, he is taking the best approach to It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World by including "anybody that was funny over the last 30 years." This casting could make his adaptation have actors that are as iconic in the modern-day as the original cast was in its time. Additionally, the way that Murphy phrases this indicates that he will include older voices as well as newer comedic talents. A mixed ensemble like this could make the capers of It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World even funnier, leading to a successful remake.

Lawrence would be one of the more seasoned, senior members of the cast if Murphy could manage to get him. Coming off of the action film Bad Boys: Ride or Die, Lawrence has proven that even at almost 60 years old, he still has his comedic chops. Hopefully, Eddie Murphy can make his dream-casted adaptaion of It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World, as its concept sounds extremely promising.
