Blueprint 2024/8/9

The South West zone of the Poultry Association of Nigeria (PAN) on Friday declared that the establishment of the Ministry of Livestock Development by President Bola Tinubu will end hostilities between farmers and herders.

In a statement by PAN’s South-west Zone chairman, Rev. Gideon Oluleye, the Association lauded President Tinubu over the initiative.

The Association stated that the establishment of the new Ministry “serves as a clear demonstration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s determination to put an end to the on-going hostilities between farmers and herders, which have hampered economic growth and jeopardised national unity.”

It stressed that the Ministry of Livestock Development was a “visionary leadership move meant to address the long-standing issues in the agriculture sector.”

“This development is a significant step towards addressing the lingering issues between farmers and herders.

“And the poultry association sees this as the government’s commitment to finding a lasting solution to the lingering crisis rocking the Nigerian agricultural sector,” the statement read in part.

On the inauguration of the Renewed Hope Livestock Reform Implementation Committee, PAN noted that it “demonstrates the government’s dedication to finding a comprehensive and sustainable solution to the issue.”
