Empowering NE through fashion: The mission of INGON and ISE

Impulse NGO Network (INGON), founded in 1993 by Hasina Kharbhih, has been making significant strides in addressing the challenges of unsafe migration, exploitation, and human trafficking in North-East India. Originating from the region’s vibrant landscapes, INGON has expanded its reach across eight Northeastern states and North Bengal, forming crucial partnerships with neighbouring countries like Nepal, Myanmar, Bangladesh, and Thailand.

Recognising the power of partnerships, INGON collaborates with both public and private sectors, leveraging their resources and legal expertise. This alliance aims to enhance resilience, create sustainable livelihood opportunities, strengthen victim support systems, and equip stakeholders with the necessary technology and knowledge.

Over the past 25 years, INGON has assisted over 74,000 survivors of human trafficking in Southeast Asia, helping them reintegrate into society through the Impulse Case Management Centre. The organisation’s strategic framework is anchored by the globally acclaimed Impulse Model, which received the Japanese Most Innovative Development Project Award from the World Bank in 2012.
