Funke Akindele, the renowned actress and filmmaker celebrated for her iconic TV comedy “Jenifa’s Diary,” is preparing for an exciting new installment in the beloved series.

Announcing the news on her social media platforms, the acclaimed star hinted at the much-anticipated return of the beloved character Jenifa.

In a recent Instagram post, Funke teased fans, remarking, “It’s been a while since you’ve seen Jenifa,” suggesting the hilarious character’s comeback.

Captioning the post, Funke wrote: “It’s been a while since you’ve seen Jenifa.”

“Everybody Loves Jenifa” is an integral part of the Jenifa franchise, which centers around the amusing adventures of the naive yet endearing character.

The franchise commenced in 2008 with the release of the original film, followed by the successful sequel “Return of Jenifa” in 2011. Expanding its horizons, the Jenifa franchise has also introduced spin-offs like “Aiyetoro Town” (2019, 18 episodes) and “Jenifa on Lockdown” (2021), further captivating audiences.

Akindele gained widespread acclaim with the debut of the first “Jenifa” film in 2008, which proved to be a commercial triumph. Her outstanding performance earned her the prestigious Africa Movie Academy Award for ‘Best Actress in a Leading Role’ in 2009, solidifying her status as a formidable talent.
