africanfootball.com 2024/10/5

Following an exciting group stage at the 2024 Cosafa Cup, Comoros, Angola, Mozambique and Namibia will now bid for a place in the competition’s final at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Friday.

Comoros and Angola are scheduled to compete in the first Cosafa Cup semi-final today, with the game scheduled to kick-off at 3:00pm CAT.

The Coelacanths grew stronger as the tournament progressed, especially since their intial defeat to Zimbabwe on the 27th of June. Since then, Comoros bagged back-to-back victories against Kenya and Zambia in Group B en-route to the last four. Angola on the other hand, have been unbeaten in this year’s edition of the showpiece and have likewise recorded two consecutive wins against Seychelles and Lesotho before qualifying for the semi-finals.

In the late evening kick-off, Mozambique and Namibia have been assigned to do battle in the 6:00pm (CAT) time slot.

The Mambas endured a rocky spell toward the semi-finals, recording two stalemates in two of their opening group stage games. However, a 3-1 victory over Botswana solidified their status as Group B winners earlier this week.

Namibia, who concluded the group stage with a 3-1 win against Seychelles, booked their ticket to the final four as the best 2nd placed team at the showpiece. The Brave Warrior’s semi-final berth was aided with an initial 0-0 draw with Angola in Group C before claiming a 2-1 victory over Lesotho earlier this month.
