In a gesture of profound commitment to the youth and future of Niger State, a transformative investment was announced by Governor Mohammed Bago to uplift the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) experience. A promise of N5 billion will be dedicated to constructing a state-of-the-art permanent orientation camp, designed to provide an enriching environment for the corps members during their service year.

Accompanying this remarkable infrastructure development is a generous financial support initiative. Each of the approximately 1,600 Batch B Stream I corps members will receive N200,000, along with the provision of 20 cows and a trailer load of rice. This thoughtful gesture is aimed at ensuring their comfort and well-being during their stay.

In a further show of support, the corps members in the medical field were promised automatic employment upon the completion of their service. This initiative highlights a strategic move to retain skilled professionals within the state, particularly in vital sectors like healthcare.

Encouragement was also extended towards the corps members to engage in the state’s agricultural revolution. Through Niger Foods Limited, the state government assured support for those willing to venture into farming, fostering agricultural development and self-sufficiency.

The swearing-in ceremony at the NYSC orientation camp in Paiko was graced by notable dignitaries, including the Chief Judge of Niger State, Justice Halima AbdulMalik, represented by Justice Mariya Ismail. As the 1,301 corps members took their oath of allegiance, the state government’s commitment to their security and welfare was firmly reiterated, marking the beginning of a promising service year.
