What Gov. FUBARA Told Senators About RIVERS Crisis

citypeopleonline.com 2024/10/5

The political brouhaha that has been ravaging Rivers State since the inception of the administration of Sir Siminialayi Fubara has now reached it’s crescendo with the revelations coming from the Rivers State Governor himself as he opened up on the genesis of the political quagmire in the state. It was during when the Senate Committee on Privatisation led by it’s Chairman, former Abia State Governor,  distinguished Senator Orji Uzo Kalu paid courtesy visit to the Rivers State Governor at Government House Port Harcourt on Wednesday 26th of June 2024 that the revelation was made on the matter troubling his administration.

Immediately Chairman of the Senate Committee on Privatisation addressed the audience, ending it with “The fight is not doing good to both of you, I think peace should reign”, that the Rivers State Governor spoke. He told the visitors that” ordinarily, I wouldn’t have as a matter of fact, like to go through this again but because the Chairman of the Senate Committee has mentioned it, I want to say few things so that the record can be straightened and corrected”.

“Whatever situation we have found ourselves today in this state, you all know the cause of it. Where on earth can the tenure of Local Government Area Chairmen be elongated? You are a former Governor (Senator Orji Uzo Kalu) was it tried in your time? Those of you that are Senators here, even in your own states, is it that the constitution that governs Nigeria is different from the one that operates in Rivers State?

Those are the very pertinent questions that we should ask. why should it be that when it comes to the case of Rivers State, the Law is always silent? Is there somebody that is bigger than Nigeria? That is the question that I want you to go with. As a matter of fact, let me tell you , I know about everything that is happening. Yesterday while they were here, they knew that you were around and there was an attempt to create a heavy trouble to dynamite Hotel Presidential (Port Harcourt) because you were there.

However, they failed to understand that our God is a God that protects His children hence the man who was asigned the task of detonating the dynamite they planted got his hands blown off.

The whole idea was for them to cause insecurity in the state so that you will go back with the impression that Governor Fubara is not capable of administering the state.

And as such call on the Federal Government to declare a state of emergency in Rivers State.

Fortunately, for us God has been on our side and He has been defending us.

So, please, distinguished Senators, I am not fighting anybody. Somebody thinks or some people feel that they own life, I don’t own life. The person who owns life is God. What we’re doing here is to serve the people of Rivers state  because God has given us this opportunity. It doesnt matter the channel the opportunity came from.

But the most important thing is God. And nobody takes the place of God in everything. I can also say it here that in this  Federal Republic of Nigeria, I don’t think that there’s  any Governor that can take 10 perent of what I have tolerated in this state. Nobody. I am the only Governor that the Local Governemnt Area Chairmen will come and abuse. I am  a Governor, let me not use unguided words here. You see it as it’s in social media. I take them in. What is the reason? Because I know that people at the end of the day might not look at the battles you fought, what they will ask is what did you achieve and I know that all those things are distractions. So, I need to focus on the ball and make sure that no matter how  tight, no matter how difficult, no matter the challenges and the situation, I must deliver to the people of Rivers State”

The political infractions in Rivers State today has claimed two lives of protesters. The protest was led by some of the 23 Local Government Council Chairmen who are loyal to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory FCT ABUJA, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike who in 2022 prior to the governorship election in 2023 nominated Sir Siminialayi Fubara as the Governorship candidate of the People’s Democratic Party PDP and he won the March18th, 2023 Governorship election held in Rivers State.
