Ghana Tourism Authority, GOTA Voyages Benin, Others To Host Delegates For 7th Accra Weizo
LAGOS – Akwaaba Travel Market in collaboration with Ghana Tourism Authority is set to host the Seventh Accra Weizo West African Travel Expo.
A statement by Ikechi Uko, the organiser of Akwaaba Travel Market, said that the expo was a travel event that seeks to grow seamless travel in West Africa.
Uko stated that there was the need to encourage West Africans to travel within the region, making the region an open domestic market, harnessing the market and opportunities within, which is the aim of the expo.
Uko explained that the 2024 edition of the expo is a four-nation road trip that would take delegates through Benin Republic, Togo and Ghana on Monday, June 24 and end with a conference and exhibition on June 28, at Accra City Hotel.
He explained that 24 travel professionals from Nigeria would be joined at the Seme border by 15 tour operators from Ghana, Benin and Togo.
Other exciting activities, according to him, would include Night Life, Boat Cruise, B2B Networking, Balafon Award of Excellence and Exhibitions.
Delegates would also be treated to a welcome cocktail by Kempinksi Hotel.
The statement added: “These groups of West African operators will enjoy Benin on the 24th, Togo on the 25th and Akosombo, Ghana on the 26th. The group will arrive in Accra on the 27th for Accra Weizo on the 28th.
“They will be joined at Akosombo by tour operators from Kenya and other nations. The event is also supported by GOTA Voyages Benin, Tour Operators Union of Ghana (TOUGHA), ABC Transport, Accra City Hotel and Royal Senchi Resorts and powered by Akwaaba African Travel Market and ATQ News.”
The travel expo returned in 2023 after a three year hiatus due to COVID-19.
